Readathon Mid-event Survey

Alas, I think I'm failing miserably in the Read-a-thon right now. My plan to stay up until 4AM, Manila time, kaput. Fell asleep at 1:30, woke up at 8:30AM and had to rush to my tutoring gig. Now, it's half past noon, Sunday, Manila time. And how am I doing? See for yourself...

1. What are you reading right now?

Still Pillars of the Earth.

2. How many books have you read so far?

Still reading that one. But I'm enjoying it, though.:)

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?

The rest of the pages of Pillars of the Earth?

4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?

Unfortunately, I couldn't. I tutor on Sundays and, of course, we go to church as a family. Plus, we  usually go out for family time on Sundays. I think we'll forego the going out today, though.:)

5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

Oh, many interruptions, aside from me going to sleep. How do I deal with these? As graciously as I can.

6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

What surprises me is the number of people who've joined and the level of activity this time round. And, it surprises me that, even if I'm failing miserably in terms of completion, I find I don't mind as much. I'm enjoying snatching whatever time I can to read, and I love seeing all the people cheering each other on.

7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

I echo what I said on Twitter--could we have a countdown widget for the read-a-thon? Ah, yes, and one other thing--a schedule that would ensure a big chunk of Saturday for people here in Asia and the Pacific.

8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?

Maybe I'll try being a cheerleader next time, instead of just a reader. Maybe I'll go back to children's books, too.

9. Are you getting tired yet?

I'm getting tired of the distractions, yes. But not of the reading.

10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?

I think the only thing really working well for me right now is my sense of humor. I recommend that to everyone.:)

Ok, so I'm on page 133 of POTE. Pathetic after my last page count. Ah, but I do the best I can.:) I doubt I can finish all 900+ pages of the really tiny font, but if I get to page 500 by the end of the readathon, then I'm good!

How's everyone else doing?

Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.

Hang in there!
