Over six years

Happy 6 years, Coffeespoons! For better or for worse.:) I missed my 6th blogiversary (yes, that's still a word). Yup, I am a lame blogger, not worthy of the name. Or so I keep saying. But you know what? Who the hell cares? My heyday of blogging was 2009-2010. I posted often, read and commented on other blogs every day, joined bloggers' events, pushed for some local face-to-face blogger events of our own. The years after that, I've had to deal with realities such as: if you're very, very busy with work, family, and advocacies, then yes, that's going to eat into your blogging time. So now, when I think I might have more to write about beyond book reviews, I find I'm just a casual blogger. Now, if I write, I write as an exercise. I write because it pleases me and if there is no audience, that is exactly what I had in mind when I started the blog. I'm not going to beat myself up over not having as much free time as I used to back in 2009. Five years

Happy Birthday, Coffeespoons. ( img src ) It's been five years to the day since I started this blog. Though I've progressively gotten worse at maintaining it (only 10 posts last year!), I'm keeping the blog. Coffeespoons was born at a time I rediscovered my love for reading. In other words, I filled whatever emptiness there was with books. So it only seemed logical to start a book blog. There is less emptiness in my life now, mainly because my work never bores me. Exhausts me, yes. Challenges me, leaves me reeling, but at least I'm not bored. Hence, the infrequent posts.  But through Coffeespoons and the many other things that came before and after it in my reading life and advocacy, I ...

On Coffeespoons' 3rd Anniversary

Image
It's Coffeespoons' 3rd birthday! Three years ago, on this date, I made the first post of this blog live. I always have a certain fondness for that post whenever I read it. It's not one of those things I write that I cringe at (I have a lot of those), mostly because it was honest and I like the sense of history. I started this blog because I was bored and because I love reading. Now, I am no longer bored. Haven't been for a long time. And I still love reading. In my last 2 blogiversaries, it was my custom to outline my advocacies for the year, whether I realized it or not. If you care to check back on my  first  and  second  year anniversary posts, you'll see that it was always about reading and the Filipino reader. That hasn't changed yet. So, this year, I hope I can do more to help push reading and readers in this group of islands where I'm from. This blog, which was meant only to allow me to share my love for reading, has been good to me. I know ...
