Book Tidbits 11: Of upcoming books, reading sluts, and books you can do without

  • A few posts ago, I mentioned books I'm looking forward to this 2010. Well, the Guardian gives us more books to look forward to in the first six months of the year. From this long list, I'm especially looking forward to Diana Wynne Jones' Enchanted Glass, Markus Zusak's Fighting Ruben Wolfe, Ian McEwan's Solar, and Marilyn Chin's Revenge of the Mooncake Vixen.
  • Speaking of upcoming books, here's another one that has an interesting concept--memoirs in six words. Ever since I saw it, been trying to come up with mine. How's this--"Had a life before discovering internet"?

These are such great links - thanks for sharing them! I too struggle with a storage issue. We live in a small condo in San Francisco so basically I am only allowed to keep my (well, rather large) TBR books. Once I've read a book I have to swap it or give it away. It's the only way I can feed my habit :)

I can't get rid of mass paperbacks I love! No siree!

Well, that's why I have storage issues. Tee hee!

But thanks for the links.

LOL on "Had a life before discovering the internet." That should sum up my biography now as well.

I don't buy mass paperbacks that I don't really like to there's no reason for me to get rid of the ones I have. :P

@Amused - Wow. I am impressed by your discipline.:) I mostly keep books, read and unread. Which is why I have a problem.:)

@Jo - Oh, I'm not going to give away the ones I love (such as my classics collection). But I will give away the Sidney Sheldons, Judith Krantzs, and Phyllis Whitneys already. I find I've outgrown them. I like different trashy books now.;P

@Jhay - That's true. Unless your house is finally overrun with books and you have to make your own personal Sophie's choice.:)

Hi, Honey! I read that "reader slut" piece too and found it so hilarious! I guess I saw myself in him. After all, I'm proud to be a book slut. The more books I sleep with, the sluttier I feel. Hehehe.

Thanks for the cool links! But you're not gonna make me part ways with my old but precious mass market paperbacks! :P

@Peter - yay for us sluts!:)

@Patrick - Well, you could part with the trade paperbacks and hardbacks instead. ;P Seriously, though, no need to part with them if you don't want to and you don't have to.:)
