Winners of the NYRB Reading Week Giveaways

The NYRB Reading Week ended last Saturday, November 13, and from our point of view, the response was amazing. After collating all the reviews, we learned that there was a total of 53 reviews of 38 NYRBs from 32 different blogs! Thank you, again, to everyone who participated. You can check out all the posts that we collated here and in Mrs. B's final consolidation post.

Now, as promised, we are announcing the winners of the prizes and giveaways for our NYRB Reading Week. These prizes were donated both by Fully Booked and Random House. Yesterday, Mrs. B and I finally met, for the first time, and decided the winners together. We first selected our winners for favorite reviews and best photo. Then, we wrote the names of the participating blogs (minus the ones we'd awarded already) on pieces of paper, and randomly picked from the bunch.

Without further ado, therefore, here are the winners:

My favorite review
Evening All Afternoon's review of Wish Her Safe at Home by Stephen Benatar (I enjoyed the alternative reading of Rachel as a gay man. I thought it was a fascinating and reasonable perspective.)
Prize:  Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi
 Mrs. B's favorite review
Sasha & the Silverfish's review of Nightmare Alley by William Lindsay Gresham (check out Mrs. B's thoughts about the review in this post.)
Prize: The Summer Book by Tove Jansson

Best NYRB Photo
from Gathering Books

PrizeNo Tomorrow by Vivant Denon
Raffle winners:

for The Wedding of Zein by Tayeb Salih
Ingrid Norton from Open Letters Monthly
for Soul of Wood by Jakov Lind
Lyn from I Prefer Reading
Congratulations to all the winners! We'll be contacting them to ask for their details so we can send the books. Again, thanks to our sponsors for donating.

But, more importantly, thank you and congratulations to everyone who participated. More than anything, it's reading the reviews and seeing the enthusiastic participation for the NYRB Reading Week that is the real prize for me.

Yay! I think the greatest reward more than anything is the soul-enriching experience of having read so many books and owning them essentially though the reviews we have made about them. Thanks for the prize!! Will email you soon about my contact details.
