I won!

A first, ladies and gentlemen, because I have NEVER won anything in a raffle or a game of chance. So, to echo Homer, "Woohoo!!!"

Anyway, Tina at One More Page sponsored a book giveaway of Feed by Mira Grant. I figured I'd join this one because, 1) I like Tina's blog and 2) I thought it's high time for me to read a zombie novel, so I might as well try winning one. Yep, I've never read a zombie novel, cause zombies honestly freak me out, except for the cute ones on Plants vs. Zombies.

Lo and behold, I get my wish! I win this book. And I get to read it, too! Funny, because the blurb and the reviews say that the book is about a couple of bloggers in a postapocalyptic zombie society who are covering the campaign of a presidential candidate. Blogging, new media, politics, and zombies. Awesome. Thank you so much for the contest and for the book, Tina!

And since now the universe has conspired to let me win a little something, I'm thinking it might conspire some more to get me other books that I'd like to have but aren't willing to spend for yet. (wink, wink)

For instance, I wouldn't mind winning a Maggie Stiefvater book. Any book, at this point. I keep hearing and reading good things about her. Plus, this video made by Maggie Stiefvater is freaking hilarious, so I've got to read something by her.

Oh, and I'd love to win this next book, too, when it comes out, for my children and for me. Thankfully, my kids know what a book is, but they also live in the digital world. They might as well see the difference between the books they love and mommy's trusty laptop, which they seem to love more because they can't use it that often. I've also taken quite a liking to Lane Smith's art, hence my desire for this book.

So, if you have any of these titles up for grabs, watch out for me, 'cause I'm a-headin' your way!

Oooh, Plants vs. Zombies :) Gee, I haven't heard of this book before. Then again, I don't exactly seek out zombie books :) Except for World War Z by Max Brooks and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Austen and Grahame-Smith :)

Congrats, Honey! I've never won anything in a raffle either.

"Feed" sounds like a book written for a "B" movie. Ha, ha, ha! But the tacky, cheesy ones are what make up our guilty pleasures sometimes. :D And it's a prize!

@Lightheaded - I was actually tempted to buy Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but in the end, couldn't stomach the sacrilege to Austen. Sorry, Austen purist here.:) So, you're addicted to Plants vs. Zombies, too? They should come up with a version 2 already.

@Jo - Yes! Aren't guilty pleasures lovely? Especially if they're free:)

i've read FEED. it is awesome. and i don't agree with what josbookshelf said. the book doesn't contain b-movie material--it's actually a very interesting look at how society tries to fix itself after everyone's sense of reality shatters. because of the appearance of zombies.
