Floored

So. 2009 Philippine Blog Awards. I'm a finalist for Best Arts and Culture Blog.

Hence, the title of this post.

I could try to be cool and blase about this, but that's not me, so....THANK YOU! Who? Not sure... I'll just start thanking everyone--my family, my friends, my book club, my fellow bloggers and book bloggers, the judges. And if you're reading this, then the thank you goes out to you, too.:)

Actually, I believe I owe my gratitude to God, life, the universe, and everything (yes, Douglas Adams, I thank you, too, for lending me your line.) Let's not rehash why I'm blogging. Suffice it to say that I am grateful that my life and my choices have led me here. So, with or without the acknowledgement, I am happy.

But, I gotta admit, the acknowledgement is great!:D

And now I can say, "I'm a blogger." without feeling weird about it! ('Cause before, it just used to be, "Well, I blog...")

Ok, enough giddiness. Here's where I tip my hat to my fellow Filipino bloggers. In the category where this blog is a finalist are nine other fantastic blogs--some of them I've been visiting for a while, others I've just discovered. And one of them is a friend.

Here are the nine other finalists in the Best Culture and Arts Blog category.

Art in Action -I've never been any good at drawing, so watching the tutorial videos in this art blog was fascinating.

Bookmarked! - my book club friend Blooey's book blog. She's one of the more prolific bloggers out there, not to mention one of the most voracious readers I know. She's also the one who told me we made it to the finals. Thanks again, Blooey, for many, many things.:)

magnetic-rose.net: Japanese Pop Culture for Filipino Fans - This is something I would seriously recommend to my students who are fans of manga or anime.

Perlas Design Studio - I first stumbled upon this blog when a local bookseller, Avalon.ph, ran a blog-hopping contest. I admit, design isn't my strong suit either, but I'm trying to have an eye for it, and this is one of the blogs that interested me.

PinoyTattoos.com – Filipino Tattoo Source - Wonderful vision for this site. To quote: "With this site, we wish to preserve and educate the world about our tattoo history as well as our indigenous culture."

SA GUBAT NG NAMIMINTOG NA PATALIM - Allan Andres posts his Filipino poetry in this blog, some of them original, others translations.

Sari-Saring Sineng Pinoy - When I used to write wiki entries for Filipino movies, this blog was often one of my sources. I'm actually honored to be in the same category as he is.

The Spy in the Sandwich - again, another blog that I'm honored to be in the same category as. The Spy in the Sandwich is run by Ian Rosales Casocot, award-winning fictionist and journalist. Been reading his stories for the past few years now, and I used to go to the website he used to run, "A Critical Survey of Philippine Literature." Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be up anymore. But that was one great website.

Views from the Pampang - I'm glad to have discovered this blog. Now I have a better way to get in touch with my Pampangueno roots.

This is my way of celebrating the creativity and variety of my fellow Filipinos' blogs. I'm a relatively new blogger (just this year), so forgive me--I'm still very much in love with blogging and the blogosphere.:)

Do check out these blogs and all the other finalists in the 2009 Philippine Blog Awards. Here's to One Blogging Nation!

Hi, Honey! Congratulations! I'm so happy and excited for you, and for Blooey as well.

By the way, I'm getting anxious about the October FFP book discussion. I haven't even finished Pride and Prejudice yet!

Thanks all! Sorry haven't been able to reply right away. Been preoccupied with home repairs, especially after the flood hit us here in Metro Manila.

But we're fine now. Just need time to fix up our home and the cooperation of Mother Nature.:)
