PRH US titles from Filipino creators |
Obviously this post is work-related, but I also love doing this, so let's call this a mix of business and pleasure.
A few months ago, I posted a version of this on my IG, but lists and announcements in the industry are constantly updated, so I've updated this list as well. This is supposed to be a list of Filipino authors and illustrators (creators) who are being published this 2025 by Penguin Random House US and its distribution clients (publishers who do not belong to PRH US, but who are distributed by PRH both in the US and worldwide). But I snuck in two kids' titles that were pubbed in 2023, because, well, I just found out that the illustrator was from the Philippines.
Does this happen often, that I realize belatedly that a creator is from the Philippines? Not often, because we honestly make it a point to find the Filipino creators on our lists. But it does happen occasionally because, well, we have a very big list.
This list also has what we call conversions, meaning titles that were converted from a first format, e.g., hardcover, to a second format, e.g., trade paperback. So you'll see some familiar titles that were originally published a year or so before, but who have new conversions this year.
Have also organized it according to fiction, nonfiction, children's, and YA, and have sorted within categories by when the books are going to be released.
And it represents Filipinos both based in the country and from the diaspora.
Below, the creators with an asterisk after their names are the ones who are based in the Philippines (or SEA, as in the case of F.H. Batacan). I often like highlighting these authors because, to me, they're wonderful examples of how our writers have made and are making it in the world stage, even if they're not based in the US. And I think the country should also celebrate them because it's no small thing to be published or distributed by the world's largest English language publisher in the world's largest book market. I also hope other Filipino writers take inspiration from them and, yes, follow in their footsteps, because it's one pretty effective way to bring more Filipino stories out to the world.

Where possible (at least as of this posting), I've also included links to where you can get the titles from local (Philippine) bookstores. But you can click on the title itself to bring you to its PRH book page, which has the links to the US stores from where you can get the titles.
