Welcome to the NYRB Reading Week!
It's finally Nov. 7, which means it's the start of our NYRB Reading Week! This week is an event that's co-hosted by Mrs. B of The Literary Stew and yours truly. Basically, the event is just an entire week of reading, reviewing, and enjoying NYRB Classics, Collections, and Children's Collection.
We made the announcement about the NYRB Reading Week a month ago, and we're very happy that many people have signed up to join. But, if you've just stumbled upon this now, you're welcome to join any time. All participants need to do is, within the reading week, read at least one NYRB book and write a review about it. We're opening the event primarily to bloggers, but those of you who don't have a blog can join, too, as long as you can post your reviews on any of the popular book social networking sites like Shelfari, Goodreads, or LibraryThing.
The important thing is to leave us, either Mrs. B or I, a comment with a link to your review. You can leave it here or in Mrs. B's welcome post, or in any of our other NYRB Reading Week-related posts. We'll be collating all the reviews throughout the week and listing them so that everyone can read each other's reviews. And, hopefully, get suggestions for other future reads.:)
To sweeten up the event, Fully Booked and Random House very kindly donated some prizes for our reading week, so we'll be giving away a total of five books as prizes! Mrs. B and I will choose a favorite review each, and the reviewers will each be awarded a book. Mrs. B will be giving away a copy of The Summer Book by Tove Jansson and I'll be giving away Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi to my favorite reviewer.
For the more visually and photographically inclined, we'll also be giving away a prize to the best original photo of NYRB books, inspired by Thomas of My Porch's photos of his NYRB collection. Head on over there to see his two lovely photos and get inspired to take your own. We'll be posting more guidelines about how to enter this event soon.
We'll also be raffling a few other books, such as The Wedding of Zein by Tayeb Salih, Soul of Wood by Jakov Lind, and No Tomorrow by Vivant Denon for the participants of the reading week. Within the week, we'll be putting up the raffle post, so you can sign up for the raffle of the book/s that you want.
So, we look forward to a fun week of reading your reviews and talking about the wonderful NYRB books!

I'm reading more NYRB books this week, so I'll definitely have another post or two in the coming days.
