NYRB Reading Week - Summary

It's already past 1 in the afternoon here in Manila, so I figure that ends Nov. 13 in almost all parts of the world. Hence, it's the end of our wonderful and enriching NYRB Reading Week. My co-host, Mrs. B, and I are very thankful to everyone who participated this week via writing reviews and other posts about NYRB. Here is a summary of everyone who gave links to their reviews and other posts for our reading week.

Mrs. B and I will be meeting up tomorrow to settle the winners for our prizes. Remember, Mrs. B's favorite reviewer will receive The Summer Book by Tove Jansson, and my favorite reviewer will receive Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. The winner of the NYRB Photo Contest will get a copy of No Tomorrow by Vivant Denon. And, the ones who submitted reviews posted during the NYRB Reading Week will be entered in a raffle to win either  The Wedding of Zein by Tayeb Salih or Soul of Wood by Jakov Lind. Each review written gets one entry into the raffle, so if you wrote two reviews for the reading week, that's two raffle entries. Unfortunately, we're not including the reviews written before the reading week, though we did link to them above because they're well-worth reading. Again, thank you to Fully Booked and Random House for donating the prizes.

This week has been extremely enriching and eye-opening for me. I'd like to thank my co-host, Mrs. B of The Literary Stew for letting me help out and to everyone who enthusiastically participated in it. We've heard people wish that it were a yearly thing or it were longer. I echo those sentiments and I would love to do this again!

Hi Honey, I've posted a reflective/summative post of this week (along with links to NYRB posts of the others) here: http://gatheringbooks.wordpress.com/2010/11/14/nyrb-reading-week-a-reflective-and-summative-postscript/

This is such a soul-enriching event, I loooooved the books I reviewed. Classics I would not have discovered if not for this book blogging event. Congratulations to you and Mrs B for hosting such a successful event!
